My Latest Skin Care Regimen
I'm all about good skin care and since I love wearing makeup so much and like going out with a makeup-free face from time to time, babying my skin is an essential part of my everyday routine. I'm excited to share my new combination of skin care products that compliment and work for me! Disclaimer: It may seem like a load of products but I do however interchange between them based on whether I wear makeup or not that day.

Why I Cut My Hair
The first time I cut my hair was back in 2010, it was a gradual thing. I went from long, to a bob, to a pixie. I did it because I was bored and wanted a change. From 2010 up until now I went natural and my hair grew a little bit passed my shoulders. Within the last 6 years, my hair has been dyed every color in the book. Brown. Blue Black .Red. Blonde. And everything in between.
I have had long hair all my life, it was kind of like my trademark. As black women, reaching a long hair length is considered a badge of honor. So when you all of a sudden cut it... combined the inquisitive look, you will receive the infamous question "Girl Why did you cut off all your hair?" So if you will keep reading, you will find out why I indeed did cut all my hair off... again. I broke it down to 3 main reasons.

Why it was dope to be a young black girl in 90's
Growing up as adolescent in the 1990's was awesome. Television
was great, the toys were legendary and the theme songs and jingles were
constantly embedded into my brain. But one thing that stood out during that era
was "us." Black girls were depicted in such a positive light. There
was a sense of pride, happiness and lightheartedness that exuded through our
television sets. There were so many products, songs, and characters a young African-American girl could relate to. So let’s
take a brief journey with me back down memory lane as I dig up all the gems
that brought me so much joy as a kid. Maybe for you too!

Let's Fall into Winter makeup looks
The fall season is quickly coming to end....with the beautiful snow outside it's hard to picture the leaves and pumpkins. No matter what the calendar says Winter is most certainly here. But I just to do a fall inspired look, which could be worn in the Winter or whenever your heart desires!
No makeup rules here! I was inspired by the beautiful fall shades of orange, brown and burgundy. I created this look with Ella Fitzgerald on Pandora serenading me in background to set the relaxing mood. I rocked 3 different shades of lipstick for the same eyes. It's your choice. Mix it up!
DISCLAIMER: I am not a professional makeup artist. I enjoy makeup and I'm always learning...be nice!

Being black and blonde: My thoughts and experience
African-American women have been going blonde for decades. Etta James, Beyonce, Mary J. Blidge, NeNe Leakes, Doroetha Towels are just a few of the sista's that have taken the blonde look and transformed it into their trademark. It's sassy, it definitely turns heads and not to mention it's fun. But not everyone is a fan. In particular black people. Who can get a little too deep and resentful when it comes to a black woman deciding to dye her hair blonde. What is the big deal? I'm glad you asked...

I'm motivated! Motives Cosmetics
I am notorious for dabbling in various brands, whether its drugstore or department. I believe you should never limit yourself when it comes to makeup. It is always good to try out other brands, just to be versatile and so you know what other lines are out there. MAC, Urban Decay, NARS and Makeup Forever are good old faithfuls but there are so many other great quality products that are extremely underrated! Ahhh my new love..... Motives Cosmetics by Loren Ridinger!

Happy Independence Day :Wonder Woman inspired makeup look!
In celebration of Independence Day I had to do something festive with my makeup (just for fun). I always wanted to a rendition of my girl Wonder Woman also known as Diana of Themyscira. A warrior princess of the Amazon. This heroine represents strength and fights for justice! So I put my own edgy spin to this look . Enjoy!

I'm back! My NEW everyday skincare regimen update
Yes indeed it has been a long time since I made a blog post...shame on me. Everyone needs a regroup period...right? But before I go into a tangent I get a lot of questions on what I use on my skin. I'm the type of person when a product stops working for me, I have pretty much become immune to it. So I switch it up.
I've been using this routine for about three months and it gets the stamp of approval. It's pretty simple.
So here it goes:
The most overheard tip : Drink lots of water!! Cliche...but it really does make your skin clearer...I can personally tell the difference in my skin and it is no myth.

The Incredible Hulk inspired makeup look: PICTURE HEAVY
Gotta love the Marvel comic book characters. So instead of acting out as the Incredible Hulk I just put all my energy into my makeup and did my own take on it. More subtle yet fun and bright at the same time. I love purples and greens especially once it comes to eye shadows. It's definitely wearable! You could do this look for a night out to the movies....or any fun event.

Comic book character Bumblebee inspired makeup look
Hi!!
I love comic book superheros so I decided to do a makeup look on DC's comic book character Bumblebee aka Karen Beecher-Duncan. I love everything about this picture, from the contrast of the colors yellow and black ..... the strength she represents and the fact that she's a sista!
I looked a little tired in my pics with my wild eyebrow (odd and unique brow)....I did this so late at night lol. Anyway I put my own odd girl twist to create this look. Hope you enjoy!Want to know what I used to create this look? Or where I purchased the products..... Hit me up!
WARNING: Picture Heavy!!!

The lips have it: High End vs Drugstore
Plus it's about being frugal. You can purchase similar shades without dishing out serious duckets. The quality of the lipsticks/lip glosses can vary. Remember:price doesn't always matter. There are cheap lipsticks that have lasting power.
Here are a list of my current favorite lipsticks/lip glosses. You don't always have to purchase a bunch lipsticks like me (I can be a makeup hoarder and yes I need help)

Skin Care Regimen Update!
So here is an update on my latest skin care regimen. In my last skincare post I was using the Simple Skincare line. It didn't quite work for me because I continued to break out in small areas :-(
So I decided to go back to Philosophy. I broke away from it for a so I wouldn't become to immune. And it has worked wonders for my skin! So excited! This line is little more on the pricey side but it's so worth. I admit I am a stickler for great skincare! I baby my skin
So here is the breakdown of what I am currently using:
Ponds Wet Cleansing Towelettes (Original Fresh).I always start off with these. They contain Vitamin E and I can get most of the makeup off so I can really wash my face!

A brief Senegalese twists update
I had my Senegalese Twists done in mid September. It's beginning November and I recently got them touched up. They were getting real loose and I was honestly surprised they stayed in so long due to my natural fine curls.
These pictures are before I had them retwisted. WARNING: not pretty

Superhero Makeup look
I was feeling extra creative and artistic. So I went ahead and pulled out some of my favorite products that I haven't used in a while. My Ben Nye Palette! Oh how I love thee! Ben Nye cosmetics are so underrated! The color pay off is crazy good! Very easy to use and blends well! I would highly recommend.
Couldn't think of a superhero name for this look. I'll leave that up to you ;-)

Fun makeup look... product overload!
It's been a while since I did a colorful and fun eye look due to my schedule. So I decided to take some time out, dig into my makeup arsenal and really beat my face. And I was definitely eager to get some practice in.
Makeup is so therapeutic to me. I normally don't use as many products as this but I wanted to play around with some of my favs that I haven't used in a while.

Senegalese Twists!
I've been natural for about a year and half now. It has definitely been a journey and I'm happy with my decision. I wanted to switch up my hairstyle and also be able to get up in the morning....and go.
With much research (DO your Research)and YouTube videos I really liked the Senegalese twists. I was leery at first because I questioned would my 3c curls hold the twists. So I decided to call the hair stylist to set up a consultation (which I highly recommend) so she could see and feel my hair.....plus I could ask her any questions or concerns that I had.
When it came time for my appointment...It took about 7 hours to complete....Yes 7 hours!Especially since the twists are long. I wanted them straight on the ends for a more sleek look. (You can have curly ends as well). She Used 7 packs of kanekalon jumbo braid. It comes in a variety of colors. So many choices!!
I really do love my twists. After getting them done,it took me a couple of days to get used to them.....but they are so much fun. I've received so many compliments. Plus I got the nickname Moesha and Lisa Bonet from my husband and brother LOL. Anywho,I look forward to doing various styles with them.
Few words of advice regarding Senegalese Twists:
For your appointment:
You will be there for a while so bring snacks, a lunch etc.
Bring a book or magazine
Ipod/headphones
You may even doze off...I did for little bit

| I wanted my twists long. Some people have them longer than this! It's your personal choice |

FAIR WARNING: It may hurt a little, especially when braiding/twisting tight.Your twists will have longevity that way. If it hurts too much Speak Up! Let him/her know that you want them looser.
When you first get them I would personally recommend NOT styling them right away...your twists will be stiff and your scalp may be tender.
VERY low maintenance
Oil your scalp from time to time. Spray them with Braid Spray or Sheen occasionally. (Don't over do it)
Tie them up at night and also when you shower
My stylist told me the longest Senegalese Twists can last are 2 and 1/2 months! (When you take care of them and get a touch up).
So what you think....would you rock these?
