Who is the Odd Black Girl?

My name is Courtney. Born and raised in Niagara Falls, New York.

I'm a Christian. A daughter. A sister. A wife. An auntie and granddaughter.

I have a degree in Communications Studies with a minor in dance. I've been dancing since the age of 7. Tap...Jazz...Ballet. As I got older I fell in love with modern and liturgical dance.

My profession is Data Analyst but my mind often wonders to dance choreography, the different color eyeshadow combination I should try, and the latest book I want to read. I have a passion for dance and makeup of course.

I'm a "don't follow the crowd" type of girl. Never felt obligated to be. I love Art and musical theatre. I gravitate to most things creative.... it usually consumes my mind.

I love beauty, especially classic beauty. I get inspiration from stars like Lena Horne, Billie Holiday and Audrey Hepburn.

I'm a fan of Batman and Wonder Woman among other characters. I'm a sucker for anything Jim Henson....especially the Muppet's.

I'm a little quirky....fun loving introvert.....I'm a foodie and I love children. As Chaka and Whitney sung...I'm every woman.
Just enjoy the uniqueness God gave you!

What does Facet mean?

One side of something many-sided, esp. of a cut gem (Merriam Webster)

Me before a 70's dance party. Can you dig it?

  1. Good very good i like this profile. A very interesting perspective on culture. Its okay to be different from everyone else. Sadly we live in country that still has stereotypes and racism that runs ramped. Yes even in 2012. Though there has been improve like in such places as seattle cali and nyc its fair game. A replica of these places is Europe or more specifically Great Britain. Full of acceptance to anyone. Can we move in that direction? Maybe. Things have gotten better. Prime example its cool to play video games as like a job now. Even though popular in the late 80z and 90z it was more frowned upon. Comic book conventions are cool to go too. Who would think its cool to dress up as Batgurl and folks complement u for how ur costume looks instead of callin u a nut. Sign of the times. Aite off my soap box. Good job courtney.
